Bismarck

Bismarck is the capital state of North Dakota. It is also the county seat of Burleigh County and the second most populous city of North Dakota after Frago. The city was founded in 1872. Bismarck is situated on the Missouri plateau directly across the Missouri river. The state government employs many people within the city. As a hub of manufacturing, retail trade and healthcare Bismarck is the economic center of a large portion of south-central North Dakota. The North dakota state capitol is the largest building of the city. It towers over the central part of Bismarck.

Located in the Great Plains between the Rocky Mountains and the Great Lake, Bismarck's climate is similar to both the locations. The climate is characterized by long, cold winters with average snowfall. Summers are warm, and is frequently hot and humid. Thundrstorm occurs in summer and in spring, but in general the climate of Bismarck is dry. July is the warmest month of Bismarck when the maximum and minimum temperature is 29°C and 14°C. January id the coldest month with temperatue ranging from -6°C to -1°C. June is the wettest month with 65.8 millimeters of precipitation.



The state government of North Dakota is the largest employer in Bismarck with over 4,300 mployees. The two major healthcare providers of the city are: St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One Health Systems. The Bismarck Public School system has 15 elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools and an alternative high school. The system educates 10,400 students and employees 1,500 people. There are also a number of private schools in the city. The higher education of Bismarck consists of several colleges and a university. The University of Mary is the largest dehree granting institution of the city.
