The city of Grand Forks is known to be the third largest city of North Dakota. The city of Grand Forks is situated on the shores of Red River. As floods take place every year in the river during the spring time, this region is also prone to flooding. This city was actually founded by Alexander Griggs who was a steam boat captain in the year 1870.
Speaking about the economy of Grand Forks, we have to speak about agriculture. Agriculture has been the mainstay of the economy of the city from its inception. But now things are changing. The Northwest Airlines operates through this airport. Railway services are also extremely good in the city. The BNSF Railway operates through the various parts of the city. Roads in the city are of excellent condition. Various federal highways pass through the city of Grand Forks and connects it to various other parts of the state.
Education in Grand Forks also plays a major role. There are schools in the city which are divided into elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. They all come under the Grand Forks Public Schools System. Other than these the city has the University of North Dakota which is known to be the oldest and the largest university of the state.
