The city of Minot is the county seat of the county of Ward. This city is located in the north central part of North Dakota. Founded in 1886, this city is known as the Magic City and is also the fourth largest city of North Dakota. The city of Minot has a land area of around 37.7 square kilometers. The important features of the city includes the Souris River, its creeks and oxbow lakes.
The form of government in Minot is the Council Manager System. There are 7 wards in the city and two members are elected from each ward for a period of four years. The mayor of the city is also elected for a period of 4 years. Though Minot has followed a conservative form of government, in the recent years they are heading towards a liberal form of government.
