Valley City


Valley City is the county seat of the Barnes County situated in North Dakota. Established in the year 1874, the Sheyenne River flows through the city. The Valley City is known for the number of bridges that are constructed over the Sheyenne River. Because of a large number of bridges here another name of Valley City is City of Bridges. Valley City has a population of around 6,826 people and has a population density of 796 persons per square kilometers. The various groups of people who constitute the population of the city includes French, English, Swedish, German, Norwegian and Irish.
Education in Valley City is controlled by Valley City Public School District. There are various elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and senior high schools in the city. Other than this, there are various private schools and alternate schools here as well. Some of the important elementary schools in Valley City are Washington Elementary School and Jefferson Elementary School. One of the important senior school in Valley City is the Valley City Senior High School. There is a junior school within its campus as well. The higher education in Valley City is provided by Valley City State University. Various extra curricular activities are held within the school campus which includes music, dance, acting as well as sports.



Tourist attractions in Valley City also attracts a large number of people. The quite atmosphere, scenic beauty and the breathtaking landscapes soothes the senses of the tourist and is a treat for the eyes. The major tourist attractions in Valley City includes North Dakota Winter Show and Hi-Line Railroad Bridge. Other than these two attractions there is a park here known as the Pioneer Park which is also visited by the tourists.

As there are various tourist attractions in Valley City and as a large number of people visit this place for its scenic beauty, a large number of hotels have come up here. Other than this, there are motels as well.
