North Dakota is a state which is located in the Midwestern and the western regions of United States of America. In terms of area North Dakota is the twelfth largest state in U.S.A. the state is considered as the 48th most populous in United States. River Missouri flows through the western part of the state of North Dakota. It forms Lake Sakakawea behind the Garrison dam. The western part of the state I entirely hilly region containing high amount of lignite coal and oil. To the east the red river flows and it forms the Red River Valley. This makes the region highly fertile for farming. Agriculture has long dominated the economy and culture of North Dakota. The economy of North Dakota is highly influenced of good agriculture system.

Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota and Fargo is the largest city. There are public universities also located in the state. At Minot and Grand Forks the United States Air Force operates its bases. The climatic condition of the region is extremely characteristic of its continental climate hence the region has cold winters and hot summers. thus the state face all seasonal variations with hail, rain, thunderstorms, snow, blizzards, polar fronts, tornadoes, and straight-line winds with high-velocity. The RED river valley getting flooded is a common sight during the spring time this happens because of river flowing from north into Canada. The most destructive flooding in eastern North Dakota occurred in 1997, causing great damage to Grand Forks.



Most people living in North Dakota are of northern European descent. The five major groups in the state are Norwegian, Native American, German, Irish and Swedish. The Germans dominate the population with about 43.9% of majority. North Dakota is a famous tourist destination with many popular attractions.
