Demographics of North Dakota

North Dakota is a state located in the Midwestern and the western regions of United States of America. North Dakota has been considered as the twelfth largest state in U.S in terms of area and 48th most populous in the nation. River Missouri flows to the west of the state and forms Lake Sakakawea behind the Garrison dam. North Dakota has a rich agricultural condition and because of this much of the state's history, economy and culture are influenced of agriculture. Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota. The state is well developed with many modern facilities including schools, universities, hospitals, banks, museums and amusement parks, fun Plex and many other things.

The population of North Dakota has slowly progressed the region which had fewer population during 1870 it grew to 680,000 by the 1930s. Suddenly this growth of population slowed and there was a great decline in it in the next seven decades. On 1st July, 2006 the total population of the state was recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau, as 635,867. The state which was once dominated by the Native American population now comprises much of European population. The Wells County located near Sykeston is considered as the center of population.



During 90s North Dakota witnessed rapid decline in its population. The reason was because of the leaving of state by the younger groups with university degrees. This outmigration was because of less scope of jobs in the region. Many efforts were taken by the government to solve this problem still it remained the same.

Most of the people living in North Dakota are the European descent though other groups are also there including Native American (5%), Norwegian (30.1%), Irish (7.7%), Swedish (5%), German (43.9%). people following different religion live in North Dakota. the state has many churches and population with different religious beliefs.
