Geography of North Dakota

The state of North Dakota is located in the Midwestern and the western regions of United States of America. The state is considered as the twelfth largest state in U.S in terms of area and 48th most populous. To the west of the state the Missouri river flows and forms Lake Sakakawea behind the Garrison dam. The agricultural condition of North Dakota is extremely well in fact much of the state's history, economy and culture are influenced of agriculture. Bismarck is the capital of North Dakota. The state is well developed with many modern facilities including schools, universities, hospitals, banks, museums and amusement parks, fun Plex and many other things.

North Dakota is located in the U.S.region and is considered as the upper Midwest and the Great Plains. The Red River is located to the north of Dakota and Minnesota is in the east. To the south is the south Dakota and Montana is on the west. To the north are located the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The west portion of the state comprises the hilly great plains and in the north are located the Badlands. The state's high point, White Butte at 3,506 feet, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park are located in the Badlands. This entire region is fully equipped of fossil fuels including the crude oil and the lignite coal. The third largest man made Lake Sakakawea is also located in the region. It is formed by the Missouri river.



North Dakota central is divided into the Drift Prairie and Missouri Plateau. The entire area is covered with lakes, marsh and the rolling hills. The range of Turtle Mountains is also located in North Dakota along the borders of Manitoba. The North America geographic center is also located near the Rugby city. The east of North Dakota comprises of the flat Red River Valley and the glacier lake Agassiz.
