Sports in North Dakota

North Dakota is a midwestern and western region state of United States of America. It is the twelfth largst state by area in the U.S. Among the sports in North Dakota golf occupies the most important position. The North Dakota Golf Course Association or NDGA is set up to promote golf courses in the state of North Dakota. Sports in North Dakota in fact occupy a very significant position in the life of the people living in North Dakota. The sports activities in North Dakota starts from school. In fact, in school curriculum a special emphasis is placed on sports activities. All the schools and high schools have special provision for sports. It is believed that sports helps to keep stident fit physically as well as mentally. It in fact, breathes new life in them.



The North Dakota High School Activities Association or NDHSAA is the governing body for North Dakota high school athletics and fine arts. According to athletic activities, the state is divided into “Class A” or larger school and “Class B” or smaller schools. One exception for this rule of sports in North Dakota is football. The headquarter of NDHSAA is located in the Valley city, North Dakota. The other sports in North Dakota include: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Hockey, Soocer, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball and wrestling. Most o the sports are palyed by both boys and girls with a few exception. Volleyball, Wrestling, Baseball are played by boys only while all other sports are played both by boys and girls.
