International Peace Garden

As the name suggests International Peace Garden is dedicated to create a perfect world sans violence and war. In a world full of blood shed and killings, it is peace alone that can restore a world worth living for one and all. Stretching over 9.46 square km International Peace Garden is located on the Canada and the United States border. of Manitoba. Founded on July 14, 1932, the park is a planned garden with a variety of flowers planted in every corner of the park. The floral clock display is an unique aspect of the garden. Besides there are well decorated fountains and a chime. No trip around International Peace Garden can ever be complete without paying a visit to the twin 120 foot concrete "Peace towers". Immediately close to it are the chapel walls which are inscribed with notable quotes on peace and fortitude. Remnants of the steel structure of the New York World Trade center are also a part of the park. It stands as a standing specimen of a world ravaged by war and terrorism..

The garden is the brain child of an Ontario horticulturist Dr. Henry Moore who wanted to create a garden along the international border of Canada and USA. International Peace Garden hosts the International Music Camp, summer youth camps and the Legion Athletic Camps because of this beautiful garden that the state of North Dakota is also known as "The Peace Garden State". The Carillon and the Peace Chapel are an integral part of International Peace Garden . They uphold the undaunted spirit of the warring nations and the immediate search for peace. Around 1934 the area was further renovated to include plush lakes and picnic spots within the property.
